Lakes

I primarily fish Bass Lake, near Oakhurst CA, which offers some of the best Kokanee salmon fishing around. These Salmon are introduced as fingerlings into the lake each year, and at the age of four they spawn and die.  Therefore, we target the 4 year olds, which typically run about 16 to 18 inches.  In my opinion this is the best tasting salmon in the lower 48 states.  During the winter we target trout, since the Kokanee will not take a bait.   

 

   I also offer fishing trips to Mammoth Pools, and while we can do just a simple morning trip, I highly recommend an overnight stay, or better yet a 3 day and 2 night camping and fishing excursion.
     This is a gorgeous lake in a beautiful high country location, where you'll find exceptional trout fishing.  On the 2 night trip we'll set out crawdad traps, and you're likely to enjoy a feast of boiled crawdads, potatoes, and corn on the cob spread out on top of a plastic table cloth for a delicious and messy finger food dinner the kids will remember forever!

 

Equipment

 

I provide all the gear, tackle,  bait and life vests.

 

My boat, the "Salley" (which is military lingo for a short excursion) is an 18 foot Sun Tracker equipped with fish finders, depth finder, GPS, a 25 HP Mercury Bigfoot, and 4 electric Scotty downriggers.  It will comfortably hold me and either 4 adults or a combination of me and 5 children/adults.

 

With the downriggers, we can have up to 6 lines in the water at one time.  Note that if you wish to use more than one pole, you'll need the extra stamp on your fishing license.

 

Extras

Enjoy coffee, soda's and water, (and perhaps even a little Bailey's in that coffee if you're so inclined) along with snacks such as donuts in the early season and cut fruit in the summer.  I clean your catch for you, so if you're staying locally and have access to kitchen facilities you can eat your fish the same day you catch it.

 

4'th of July Fireworks on Bass Lake

Experience the only fresh water fireworks display in California from the deck of an 18 foot pontoon boat.  Special pricing for this Bass Lake, CA event: $1,200 total for up to 4 people, which includes evening fishing, all your beer or cocktails,  and an on-board barbequed dinner of steak, veggies,  and your fresh caught fish.  Expect to be very, very late getting off of the lake, as the line of boats gets to  be quite long.  (Bring a designated driver -- the police presence is high for this event.)
